Museum of Model Trains and Historical Toys

Blasii Straße 22, Tel. 03946 /3751

The Quedlinburg cultural scene has been enriched by a new museum which offers special delights for friends of historical toys. For the first time, one of the most important collections of model trains from the century between 1880 - 1980 has been made accessible to the public.

The museum is over 500 quadrate meters large with an exhibition of approximately 3,000 items. The foremost attraction is a historical model train exhibition in Track 1, Track 0, Track S and HO. This collection can be described as one of the most important and diversified in the German-speaking world. One can admire early models that run on the floor, high quality tracks, train stations, lamps and other accompaniments from all model train firms, in particular, the firm Märklin. In addition, numerous foreign producers of model trains are represented. As a special curiosity the collection features a Russian wide-track model train system with an eccentrically constructed transformer.

In the second floor of the toy museum there are toys from the collection of the owner of the museum, among them a doll collection with many rarities, doll houses, games, children’s books and toy farmyards.

The museum is equipped with a lift.
